THE LONDON ICG GALLERY PRESENTS RICHARD BRYANT’S NEW BOOK ON ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHYOn 29 October, the London ICG Gallery will host “In Conversation with Richard Bryant”, an evening dedicated to the launch of the renowned British photographer’s new book, featuring a talk with Jonathan Glancey and the book’s co-authors.
Photography, architecture, and the creative process will be the key themes of the evening, during which Jonathan Glancey, architectural critic and writer and former correspondent for The Guardian, will interview Richard Bryant, one of the most celebrated contemporary architectural photographers, to mark the release of his latest publication.
The new book, simply titled “Richard Bryant”, is authored by Valeria Carullo, Curator of Photographs at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and Martin Caiger-Smith, Head of the MA Curating the Art Museum at the Courtauld Institute of Art. It is published by Lund Humphries, a long-established independent publisher specialising in art, architecture, and design.
This first retrospective volume dedicated to Bryant reveals how his work continued to shape the image of architecture throughout the 1990s, even as the medium transitioned from black and white to colour. Through its pages, the authors explore his career and influences, placing his work in a broader context and illustrating the changes that have occurred in both the architectural profession and photography as a medium over the past five decades.
The evening will be opened with remarks from the book’s co-authors, Valeria Carullo and architect Eva Jiricna — author of the book’s foreword — followed by a captivating conversation between Jonathan Glancey and Richard Bryant in front of an engaged audience of admirers and supporters of the photographer’s work.
The event will offer a valuable opportunity to reflect on the creative process behind architectural photography and the evolution of the discipline in recent decades, reaffirming the role of the ICG Gallery London as a space for dialogue and exchange at the heart of the British capital.
The event is private and by invitation only.
